SGA Exec Board Retreat: Our House!

Hello everyone!

This past weekend, the SGA Executive Board went on retreat!  Our goals were to collect an inventory for the SGA kitchen, replenish kitchen supplies, organize ALL the files in the E.Board Office and the Treasurer’s Office, to film our weekly address, and of course, to bond and have fun!

We started out the weekend creating an inventory of the SGA kitchen.  While there were a lot of necessary items missing, we were all excited for our trip to IKEA (for kitchen supplies… of course).  We ran around IKEA filming our video and bought a whole new set of kitchen supplies for well under our budget of $350.00.  Thanks IKEA!  Stop by the SGA House to take a look at the new kitchen, it’s beautiful!

We came home safely after adventuring around to re-organize the offices.  We went through binders and binders of old information and were amazed by what past E.Boards have done.  Needless to say, we were inspired by past E.Boards’ organization and hope to pass down similar accounts of our terms in office.  Later at night (after I passed out) the rest of the E.Board created a Google Website for Assembly members to post their monthly reviews.  The website can be viewed by anyone in the community- check it out and see what your elected and appointed representatives are up to!

Then we ordered Indian food for dinner!  It was delicious! :)

We continued to film our videos and the next day we woke up to make breakfast.  After breakfast we planned our big SGA event (look out for it, it’s going to be amazing!), Mae (SGA Secretary) made a format to bring back Mawrk notes, I fumbled through the SGA and Honor Board  blog, and we filmed our weekly address.

We hope everyone enjoys the new kitchen supplies, our weekly video (and the silly one!), and the new Google Website.  Look out for more information regarding the SGA event we’re planning (OMG I’m SO EXCITED FOR IT).  And keep an eye on the Honor Code blog as well as the SGA blog for anything else we may be planning :)

And now… for the video links.

A New Term!

Hello everyone!

My name is Priya Saxena and I am the new Honor Board Head (’11-’12)!  I’ve been a member of the Honor Board since my first year at Bryn Mawr, serving the 2-year term, and am extremely excited to work in my new position.

As Honor Board Head I have several goals: (1) To increase visibility of the Honor Board as a useful resource on campus by holding open, monthly meetings where students and faculty can meet with the board members and myself to talk about various topics surrounding the Honor Code and ask any questions and/or voice concerns,  (2) To increase dialogue between students and professors on campus regarding the Academic and Social Honor Codes, (3) To help students become more comfortable with confrontation in social aspects, and (4) To revamp the Honor Code orientation process for first year students so it becomes one that is friendlier and easier to understand.

That’s a lot of stuff!

I also wanted to use this space to remind the student body that a new round of elections is coming up!  Please consider running for an Honor Board position- there are many positions opening up!  I am excited to work with a new board and accomplish these goals and maybe even conquer some new ones!

If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me at psaxena@brynmawr.edu and/or honorboard@brynmawr.edu

Thanks!

Priya Saxena

WELCOME!

Bryn Mawr is an institution that takes pride not only in a legacy of excellence but also in many grand traditions. The Honor Code is a tradition that is woven into all aspects of life on campus at Bryn Mawr, both academic and social.

Very few schools have functioning Academic Honor Codes and even fewer have a working Social Honor Code. The Honor Code is a document that tends to be vague and confusing. This site is designed to help assuage the confusion.

Some of you may not be aware of how important the Honor Code is and how it shapes the Bryn Mawr community, making it unique. There are many privileges that the Honor Code bestows upon the community. One of the most important opportunities is the ability to take self-scheduled final examinations as well as non-proctored “take home” tests during the term.

This site is designed to be a resource for all members of the Bryn Mawr community and those interested in being a part of our unique community. You can read a current version of the Honor Code and abstracts of cases. Important contact information can be found on the Honor Board page.
