Abstract 09-03
Jessica was a first semester freshman in Professor Clifford’s College Seminar class. After reading Jessica’s essay for the course Professor Clifford noticed a distinct change in tone and style about halfway through the paper. Upon further investigation, Professor Clifford found passages online that were used word-for-word in Jessica’s paper without citation. While Jessica had not confessed to Professor Clifford at first, during the hearing and in her statement Jessica appeared very apologetic and remorseful for what she had done. The board decided that due to the extensive plagiarism in the paper, Jessica would receive a 0 on the assignment.
