Hello everyone! My name is Emily Tong and I am a new member of the Honor Board! I was just elected this spring (2011) and I’ll be serving until spring 2013. I’m really excited to get to know the rest of the board and be more involved in such an important part of our social and academic community.

I grew up in California, and in 2006 my family moved to Durham, NH – interesting shift. I was homeschooled up until 5th grade. For most of that time, I knew that when I grew up, I was going to be a veterinarian. Somehow, that dream has been warped into teaching English – but both of my parents are teachers, so I suppose it’s genetics.

So now I’m an English major and I’m working on a teaching certification. After I graduate, I plan to work in a middle school or high school for a few years, and possibly go into nonprofit work in the semi-distant future.

A few things I think are awesome: movie marathons, art museums, picnics with good friends, beach days, talking to people I don’t know in line at the grocery store, big dogs, and chocolate raisins.

I’m a member of several extracurricular clubs on campus (ie Open Mic Club, Nimbus Literary Arts Magazine) and have a weekly community service position at LIFT in West Philly.
